The Kitchen Table Series #2

In which a photo from the Old West shows Jim and Tom with raging cases of smallpox...

Show notes: (some audio jumps) Comparison of Ocean's 11 and its re-make... the usual James Bond discussion... job burn-out... Tom has a charmed life and we hate him for it... working weekends is bogus... would Las Vegas be better?... Des Moines is not Las Vegas... the worst concerts we've seen... combatting boredom with Bombay Gin... Tangeray vs. Bombay... ragging on King Philip... renaissance fairs are rip offs... Brian's pager problems... the name 'Furmaniuk' is like 'Smith" in the Ukraine... Cathy... Richard Harris vs. Sean Connery... vacations... the gimp... "Rich Xenos, is he still alive?"... the email list... "you did more than just irritate her"... the Story of the Raptou...

In spite of the occasional audio problems, this one has more of the tone I'm looking for.

The Kitchen Table Series #1

Not much to say here, because it's late and I don't feel like doing show notes. I will get to those later.

This was myself, Jim, Tom and Brian hanging out at my kitchen table.

More to follow.

The 3-D Humor Test

I'm not sure why there is so much blank space on this entry... but this is s fun test. Try it yourself.

the Wit

(61% dark, 26% spontaneous, 26% vulgar)

your humor style:
CLEAN | COMPLEX | DARK

You like things edgy, subtle, and smart. I guess that means you're probably an intellectual, but don't take that to mean pretentious. You realize 'dumb' can be witty--after all isn't that the Simpsons' philosophy?--but rudeness for its own sake, 'gross-out' humor and most other things found in a fraternity leave you totally flat.

I guess you just have a more cerebral approach than most. You have the perfect mindset for a joke writer or staff writer.

Your sense of humor takes the most thought to appreciate, but it's also the best, in my opinion.

You probably loved the Office. If you don't know what I'm talking about, check it out here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/theoffice/.

Squidoo!

I found this insanely great site while surfing the net.

It's called Squidoo, and it has all the information you never knew you even needed.

Check it out.

BTW - The fourth edition of the WDIDN podcast will be posted as soon as I get to it. Work has been a bear, and with the kids' computer in the shop, they've been using my laptop, so I've been getting very little time to work with it. Hopefully I will have something up before I go away on vacation. Also, I need to scedule a recording session this coming week.

Third Podcast Test - now with added Mahon goodness!

This is part two of three from last week at The Cosmopolitan. I cleaned up the audio and added a better sound bed (though I still have to fix the fade... it goes on too long and fades too directly), plus I added an ID tag at the top. The third - and final - test podcast will include noise reduction, a bed fade and a better ID tag, plus extensive show notes AND an RSS enclosure! THAT'S when it will be a true podcast.
